Unsupervised morphological segmentation in a language with reduplication

1 code implementation NAACL (SIGMORPHON) 2022 Simon Todd, Annie Huang, Jeremy Needle, Jennifer Hay, Jeanette King

We present an extension of the Morfessor Baseline model of unsupervised morphological segmentation (Creutz and Lagus, 2007) that incorporates abstract templates for reduplication, a typologically common but computationally underaddressed process.

More than Just Statistical Recurrence: Human and Machine Unsupervised Learning of Māori Word Segmentation across Morphological Processes

no code implementations21 Mar 2024 Ashvini Varatharaj, Simon Todd

Non-M\=aori-speaking New Zealanders (NMS)are able to segment M\=aori words in a highlysimilar way to fluent speakers (Panther et al., 2024).

PSST! Prosodic Speech Segmentation with Transformers

1 code implementation3 Feb 2023 Nathan Roll, Calbert Graham, Simon Todd

Self-attention mechanisms have enabled transformers to achieve superhuman-level performance on many speech-to-text (STT) tasks, yet the challenge of automatic prosodic segmentation has remained unsolved.
