Deviations from tidal torque theory: evolution of the halo spin-filament alignment

no code implementations3 Dec 2020 Pablo López, Marius Cautun, Dante Paz, Manuel Merchán, Rien van de Weygaert

In order to analyze these signals in the TTT framework, we split the haloes according to their net spin growth with respect to the median TTT expectation, finding a clear correlation with the spin--filament alignment.

The Milky Way total mass profile as inferred from Gaia DR2

1 code implementation11 Nov 2019 Marius Cautun, Alejandro Benitez-Llambay, Alis J. Deason, Carlos S. Frenk, Azadeh Fattahi, Facundo A. Gómez, Robert J. J. Grand, Kyle A. Oman, Julio F. Navarro, Christine M. Simpson

We provide a best-fitting contracted NFW halo model to the MW rotation curve that matches the data very well.

The Milky Way's total satellite population and constraining the mass of the warm dark matter particle

no code implementations25 Sep 2018 Oliver Newton, Marius Cautun, Adrian Jenkins, Carlos S. Frenk, John C. Helly

The Milky Way's (MW) satellite population is a powerful probe of warm dark matter (WDM) models as the abundance of small substructures is very sensitive to the properties of the WDM particle.

The Santiago-Harvard-Edinburgh-Durham void comparison I: SHEDding light on chameleon gravity tests

no code implementations4 Oct 2017 Marius Cautun, Enrique Paillas, Yan-Chuan Cai, Sownak Bose, Joaquin Armijo, Baojiu Li, Nelson Padilla

We present a systematic comparison of several existing and new void finding algorithms, focusing on their potential power to test a particular class of modified gravity models - chameleon $f(R)$ gravity.

The total satellite population of the Milky Way

no code implementations14 Aug 2017 Oliver Newton, Marius Cautun, Adrian Jenkins, Carlos S. Frenk, John Helly

We predict that half of our estimated total satellite population of the MW should be detected by the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope.

Bayesian Cosmic Web Reconstruction: BARCODE for Clusters

1 code implementation3 Nov 2016 E. G. Patrick Bos, Rien van de Weygaert, Francisco Kitaura, Marius Cautun

We describe the Bayesian BARCODE formalism that has been designed towards the reconstruction of the Cosmic Web in a given volume on the basis of the sampled galaxy cluster distribution.
