Carbon dust in the evolved born-again planetary nebulae A30 and A78

no code implementations25 Feb 2021 J. A. Toalá, P. Jiménez-Hernández, J. B. Rodríguez-González, S. Estrada-Dorado, M. A. Guerrero, V. M. A. Gómez-González, G. Ramos-Larios, D. A. García-Hernández, H. Todt

Gas and dust masses for the born-again ejecta in A30 are estimated to be $M_\mathrm{gas}=(4. 41^{+0. 55}_{-0. 14})\times10^{-3}$ M$_\odot$ and $M_\mathrm{dust}=(3. 20^{+3. 21}_{-2. 06})\times10^{-3}$ M$_\odot$, which can be used to estimate a total ejected mass and mass-loss rate for the born-again event of $(7. 61^{+3. 76}_{-2. 20})\times10^{-3}$ M$_{\odot}$ and $\dot{M}=[5-60]\times10^{-5}$ M$_{\odot}$ yr$^{-1}$, respectively.

The APOGEE Library of Infrared SSP Templates (A-LIST): High-Resolution Simple Stellar Population Spectral Models in the H-Band

1 code implementation31 Dec 2020 Aishwarya Ashok, Gail Zasowski, Anil Seth, Sten Hasselquist, Galen Bergsten, Olivia Cooper, Nicholas Boardman, Dmitry Bizyaev, Sofia Meneses Goytia, D. A. García-Hernández, Alexandre Roman-Lopes

This set of SSP templates is the highest resolution ($R\sim22500$) available in the near infrared, and the first such based on an empirical stellar library.

Kepler-503b: An Object at the Hydrogen Burning Mass Limit Orbiting a Subgiant Star

1 code implementation22 May 2018 Caleb I. Cañas, Chad F. Bender, Suvrath Mahadevan, Scott W. Fleming, Thomas G. Beatty, Kevin R. Covey, Nathan De Lee, Fred R. Hearty, D. A. García-Hernández, Steven R. Majewski, Donald P. Schneider, Keivan G. Stassun, Robert F. Wilson

Using spectroscopic radial velocities with the APOGEE instrument and Gaia distance estimates, we demonstrate that Kepler-503b, currently considered a validated Kepler planet, is in fact a brown-dwarf/low-mass star in a nearly circular 7. 2-day orbit around a subgiant star.
